Applus runs 47 NCT testing centres around the country, and at the moment it’s suffering from many of the same issues that the rest of the economy is struggling with — a shortage of staff. The National Car Test (Irish: An tSeirbhís Náisiúnta Tástála Carranna; abbreviated NCT) is a roadworthiness test, which all cars in Ireland must undergo. Following a tender process, the Road Safety Authority awarded the National Car Testing Service contract for the operation of the vehicle inspection service in the Republic of Ireland to Applus.
